Task #5 – Social Security Number 

 

Background: सामाजिक सुरक्षा नम्बर (SSN) एक विशिष्ट पहिचानकर्ता हो, जुन संयुक्त राज्य नागरिक र केहि निवासीहरूलाई उनीहरूको आयलाई ट्र्याक गर्न र लाभहरू निर्धारण गर्नका लागि दिन्छ। सामाजिक सुरक्षा बाट बढी, एसएसएन अब विभिन्न क्षेत्रमा पनि प्रयोग हुँदैछ। यीमा विशेष गरी क्रेडिट प्राप्त गर्न, बैंक खाता खोल्न, सरकारी लाभ वा बाट प्राइभेट इन्स्योरेन्स प्राप्त गर्न, र घर वा गाडी किन्न यस्ता अनेक क्षेत्रमा पनि यो प्रयोग हुँदैछ। नयाँ आगन्तुकहरूको लागि एक पुनर्वास एजेन्सीले यसलाई प्राथमिकतामा बनाउँछ किनकि यसले बहुत ब्यवसायिक सेवाहरूको लागि आवश्यक छ। यसका बिना स्पन्सरहरू भएका शरणार्थीहरूले शरणार्थीहरूले तल लिस्ट गरिएका परिस्थितिहरूमा एसएसएनका नियुक्तिहरू गर्नुपर्नेछ।

Background: .   A Social Security number (SSN) is a unique identifier assigned to U.S. citizens and some residents to track their income and determine benefits.  In addition to Social Security, the SSN is now also used for a wide range of purposes. These include obtaining credit, opening a bank account, obtaining government benefits or private insurance, and buying a home or a car, among many other pursuits. A resettlement agency will make this a priority for newcomers as it is required for most services.  Refugees without sponsors will have to make SSN appoints according to relevant websites listed below.

Anytime you get hired for a new job, your employer will ask for your Social Security number. Your employer’s accounting department will use this number to report your income to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and your Social Security wages to the Social Security Administration.

Your SSN typically stays with you for life. However, if you are a victim of identity theft, you may be issued a new SSN to protect your future privacy.   A resettlement agency will make this a priority for newcomers as it is required for most services.  Refugees without sponsors will have to make SSN appointments according to relevant websites listed below.

१. फारम I-94 (आगमन प्रस्थान रेकर्ड) र शरणार्थी प्रवेश मुहरसहित

शरणार्थी द्वारा प्रस्तुत गरिएको फारम I-94 मा प्रवेश मुहर हुनुपर्छ जुन देखाउँछ:

1. लेजेन्ड “आप्रवासी/अवलम्बी बनाएको, इम्मिग्रेसन र न्यासन्यालिटी एक्टको धारा २०७ अनुसार। अमेरिका बाट तपाईं बाहिर जानु हो भने, तपाईंले फर्काउँदा पूर्वदृष्टामा फिर्ता आउनु पर्नेछ;”
2. प्रवेश को ठाउँ (POE), जाँचको मिति, र जाँच अधिकारीको पहिचान;
3. “काम अधिकृत” शब्दहरू।
4. Form I-94 (Arrival Departure Record) with refugee admission stamp

The Form I-94 presented by a refugee must have an admission stamp that shows the:

1. legend “Admitted as a refugee/dependent pursuant to Section 207 of the Immigration & Nationality Act. If you DEPART the United States, you will need PRIOR PERMISSION to return;”
2. port of entry (POE), date of inspection, and inspection officer’s identification; and
3. words “EMPLOYMENT AUTHORIZED.”

 

सोहीपनि, शरणार्थीलाई जारी गरिएको फारम I-94:

In addition, Form I-94 issued to a refugee:

1. does not show a class of admission (or alien classification code);
2. generally, does not show a period of admission. In some cases, the stamp may show “indefinite” or a specific period;
3. may show a handwritten departure number when Customs and Border Protection (CBP) electronically assigns the alien an I-94 number in its system. In these situations, the handwritten departure number supersedes the preprinted number. The preprinted number may or may not be crossed out;
4. generally, shows a typed or handwritten alien registration number (A# or ARN) on the front or back of the I-94, in addition to the I-94 admission number.

An alien granted refugee status as a result of applying as “following to join” the principal refugee will generally have the tear-off I-94 portion of Form I-797A (Notice of Action). This type of I-94 shows the legend “Admitted as a refugee pursuant to section 207 of the Act. If you depart the U.S., you will need prior permission to return.” The tear-off I-94, like the regular I-94, does not show an alien class of admission (or alien classification code).
